Dragon fruit

I love trying new, bizarre fruits! The don't even usually end up being that great, but it's fun to try. Perhaps it's because there are so many 'normal' fruits that I don't like?

This one has a very light flavor and a kiwi-seed kind of texture. We thought it might be best for a fruit salad, where it can get a little flavor boost from the fruits around it.

Dellinger Park

The weather has been amazing around here lately, not too hot with a slight breeze. We packed up a picnic and had a walk around the local park, which was looking particularly pretty.



(Of course, it doesn't hurt when you can get the angle just right to hide to hide a crowd of geese-feeding visitors people behind the large bushes)

Mmmm....

We went a little insane at the Asian market this weekend, loaded up our basket. But the produce and meat prices are so low, we bought extra for freezing, and then there's all of that awesome stuff you can't get elsewhere. I only took a few photos this time, some of the weirder items, or interesting labels (click for closer view).

Cherry Moon

Screen printing and I are not currently on speaking terms since another attempt at burning the pattern failed. These things are just so huge! Over 4 times the size I was working with before. I think parts of the image are hardening from the overhead light as I'm trying to clean it out, so it's back to the trial-and-error stage, and back to the store for more supplies. One day!

Let's cheer up with a little cherry action. I was happily munching away when I realized I was being mooned. Retribution for his fallen brethren, I suppose.

Ambigram Ink

Well, the screen burning was a bust, so I'm going to try to clean off the emulsion so that I can use it again (though I'm not really expecting it to work). At least re-covering a screen does not cost as much as a brand new one! I should have figured switching to a different brand of mesh would not be a smooth transition, but I have a few ideas of what might have been the problem and I'll give it another go this week. Today we'll be doing a little minor surgery on my lightbox.

18 transparencies, all printed out & ready to go. Now I just need to sit down with some scissors & tape and piece them all together to burn the screen.



But not until tomorrow. So far I am spending my week waiting for things to dry. I may not have a print done by the end of the week, but I'm determined to have one screen ready at least.

My screens have been waterproofed, I have a board and black paper cut & ready to fit in the screens, and the transparencies arrived in the mail. Of course, as soon as I start printing out a few, I run out of ink! But, cross your fingers, I think there will be printing next week. For now, I bring you more ambigrams.
